British author Robert (Bob) Carter has seized the opportunity to use his spare evenings and weekends to write ‘The Magic Eye’ the first in a series of children’s fantasy stories titled ‘The Magical Adventures of Melie.’
Carter is temporarily separated from his Tucson based wife Teresa and young daughter Lexi, while he is working in England. That separation has formed the basis for ‘The Magic Eye’. The story owes much of its originality to seven year old Lexi who has been responsible for many of the creative ideas. Carter explains; ‘Lexi isn't afraid of making suggestions to enhance the story. She isn't afraid of 'being wrong' she isn't afraid that somebody will tell her not to be 'silly'. Lexi, like most other children of her age will have a go’.
Carter has developed a method for writing that includes hundreds of post it notes and a large white wall. It may not be everybody’s idea of how to decorate an apartment but it works for a writer. The method adopted for ‘The Magic Eye’ included writing a chapter of the book, proofreading and editing, then emailing it to Teresa and Lexi for comments. From start to finish, ‘The Magic Eye’ took less than two months to complete.

Children and parents will be whisked away to the ‘world in-between’ where Melie and her best friend John mingle with the amazing wizards of old. It is planned that readers and followers of the series will get so much more than a good read! Unlike ‘The Magic Eye’, the following books will be created and written in a very innovative way. Not only will fans get to share in Melie’s adventures, they will be invited to help to create them. Children will be asked to submit ideas for Melie’s next story to the author. Twice a year, 20 children with the best ideas will be invited with their parents to join the author’s family at a special boot-camp. The objective will be to jointly design the next Melie adventure. This will be a weekend of fun, alternating between England and the USA, where they jointly develop the outline and first chapter for the next book. Carter will share his book writing method with the families and it may just redefine the way books are written in the future.

It is foretold in ‘The Book of the Future’ that a great and mighty High Priestess will one day return to the earth. On her return she will rule over all that live there.
‘The Book of the Future’, is known by others who are acquainted with it as ‘The Book of Lies’. It promises unimaginable power to all who follow what is written within its’ pages. This power is way beyond anything that the world has ever seen.
Fifteen hundred years have passed since High Priestess Faranella first created the book, just as she was defeated by the combined army of all the earth’s ruling wizards. She had been charged and found guilty of mass genocide following a conspiracy against the rulers of the earth. She was banished forever to the planet of Zaydon.
‘The Book of the Future’ contains more than mere prophesies of Faranella’s second coming. It contains more than the promise of wealth and power. It also contains secret spells and incantations that in the wrong hands will enable the prophesy to be fulfilled. High Priestess Faranella vowed to return, stronger and more powerful than ever. Even from the remote planet of Zaydon, she remains an evil and calculating witch with galactic ambition.
It is also foretold in the book, that a magical being will be born. This special girl will have the power to bring the High Priestess back to the earth after centuries of imprisonment. What is not written in the book is that this magical young girl will also have the abilities to ensure long and lasting peace on earth.
This is the story of Amelia Pendragon, or Melie as she is known to her family and friends. At first glance, Melie is an ordinary child. She is pretty, intelligent, and has many friends. She enjoys reading, playing sports, dancing and generally having fun, just like all young girls do. She also enjoys going to school and learning new things. This should be an ordinary story about an ordinary girl, but of course it is anything but ordinary. Melie is pure, innocent and without sin. She is also creating a great deal of interest on Zaydon.
Nobody knew when she was born that she would have such a profound effect on those around her, how could they have known? She was the first grand-child on both sides of the family and like all grand-children; she was very much loved and adored. But being possessed of magical powers? That is an entirely different story.
Melie’s adventure with the Magic Eye shows how she first discovered her special skills and how she first used them. It also reveals the depths that Faranella will plough to escape Zaydon to take back what she believes to be her right. That is to hold dominion over all the earth.
