Inadequate, Unprepared But Ready
I Samuel 16:10-13
10 “Jesse had seven of his sons pass before Samuel, but Samuel said to him, "The Lord has not chosen these." 11 So he asked Jesse, "Are these all the sons you have?" "There is still the youngest," Jesse answered, "but he is tending the sheep." Samuel said, "Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives." 12 So he sent and had him brought in. He was ruddy, with a fine appearance and handsome features. Then the Lord said, "Rise and anoint him; he is the one." 13 So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came upon David in power. Samuel then went to Ramah.”
How is it that you were not the favored one but yet have been chosen? How is it that you can be the underdog and come from behind and win? No one of your kind has done this before. How is it that you who is so different from everyone else and outside the norm is now preferred? How is it possible that you can rise from obscurity to fame?
God will send for you to work in the assignment and vocation He prepared for you. No one else can do the assignment God has prepared for you. Your assignment is as unique as your fingerprint or DNA. Just as a little acorn will become a mighty oak tree, you will become even greater and do greater things. The size of an acorn is typically half inch to over an inch in length which will grow to approximately seventy feet in height. An acorn will not grow up to be a pine, maple or evergreen tree because it is already chosen to be an oak tree. It takes approximately twenty years for an oak tree to produce acorns. Before the oak tree produces acorns, it is inadequate because it cannot survive on its own. It needs moisture and protection to survive. But when the oak tree produces acorns and the acorns fall to the ground those that survive animal pilfering, will grow into what they are predetermined and ready to be – oak trees. With time, protection and nurturing what may appear to be small or insignificant is on a preset trajectory of greatness.
