My second book of poetry is in the final stages of editing. "More than a Memory" is less introspective than "Reflections of a Life Well Spent" and includes glimpses into my life, my faith, and the process of writing.
"More than a Memory" takes you on a journey of sights and sounds and allows you to luxuriate in the way the words feel as you speak them and enables you to ponder at the images they evoke. It is a book that crosses gender, race, age and even politics and you will find yourself reaching for it again and again.

Waiting For the Poem
I should be folding towels, straightening up the house,
but here I am writing
yet another poem,
this one about why
I should be doing
something other than
writing a poem.
If I stared at my
reflection in a pond
until I wasted away
to nothing it would
make more sense
than writing about why
I should not be writing.
Even my dog hate my laptop
and wonder if it tastes
better than it looks. Barking accompanies each keystroke
because my attention is diverted
from them, my canine family,
and after all, it is all about them.
But for this moment,
this episode in the life
of a poet, it is not
all about them, but instead
it is all about the poem,
the shape of it, the feel of it,
the weight of it,
the wait for it.
