Why do I lose control over my thoughts and imagination?
In II Corinthians 10:4-5, we read… “(for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the casting down of strongholds), (5) casting down imaginations, and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ;”
In I Peter 5:8, we also read… “Be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour,”
When it comes to our thoughts and imaginations…the first thing we should do; is to always strive to keep our thoughts connected with God, rather than allowing Satan to distract us in our thinking. Temptations are going to arise but if we have a strong connection with God; then there won’t be any room within our minds or our hearts, for Satan to have control.
Today, we need to realize that Satan is lurking around…looking for some form of weakness to prey on and when we choose to allow an evil thought to have control over us; then we are also opening up the door of our thoughts and hearts to him…where he can step in and fill the empty thoughts, with whatever he desires; which only leads us to an imagination that becomes out of control. Rather than allowing Satan to have control over us in this way, we need to allow God to use the positive things in life…along with His words of truth, to ward off the thoughts that Satan is attempting to implant within our minds. When we can allow the good things in life to keep us connected to a powerful God; then the door of our thoughts and hearts will always remain closed to evil.
Quotes: When we allow negative thoughts to enter our imaginations; then we are also allowing Satan to step in and fill in the empty blanks.
Rather than allowing our thoughts to take us captive, through an imagination that is out of control; we need to allow God to bring every thought into captivity; where God can have control over them, instead of them having control over us.
