A poignant and witty collection of short stories about the age old struggles between men and women; and suggestions on how to find a happy medium. Each story illustrates a journey through the ups and downs of relationships and the road to recovery.

This book is dedicated to every woman who has ever had problems with a man.

The first part of the book focuses on the double standards and unreasonable expectations men impose upon women.  The second part, Accepting the Blame, points out where women go wrong.  The last part contains ideas on finding a solution.

Excerpt

What is it about a man and his basement? I didn't get it for the longest time. Why would anyone want to hang out in a dingy, dank, musty-smelling basement with raggedy old furniture for an entire weekend? Of course, the basement just described was a back-in-the-day basement. But still… what is with them and their basements (or dens)? Why is it off limits to everybody, including the children? And why can't "the wifey" decorate, and make it homey and comfortable? I wondered why he didn't want her to do anything to the basement. I know why now. It’s because it's HIS PERSONAL SPACE and when someone else puts their personal touches on it or changes it or uses it, it's no longer personal and it's no longer JUST HIS.

Having a basement is also a concept or a state of being where respect abounds. It’s that place were one is comfortable with his or her own person; where gender, status and ethnicity carry very little weight in measure of a person’s worth. It’s the place where self-preservation works in parallel with self-satisfaction. It’s a place were a woman’s value is no less that a man’s.

I finally get it. It’s all about getting what you want and deserve despite your gender. And given the lifestyles of most women, it’s abundantly clear that, if they don't already have one, women need basements too!
