God is a person. That is He has the attributes of a person. Yet, the attributes of a person cannot compare with those possessed by God. The attributes of God, in every way, are much greater than the attibutes of a person. Unlike human beings, He does not have the attributes that permit Him to do evil. By recognizing that God has humankind attributes, a person is able to have a personal relationship with Him and experience his Fatherly and Motherly love. Of all creatures, only human beings were made in the image and after the likeness of God. .... Conseqently, they (people) are able to communicate with God and respond directly, forthrightly, trustingly, lovingly and understandingly, because both He and they (people) possess similar attributes. Moreover, God who is love has made human beings so they can choose to love Him. And He needs people to love Him. Think about it; without humans loving God, only God could love God. In the Scriptures, we are commanded by both God and Jesus, respectively, to "love God." (p.63).
