Patty looked down, as though searching the martini mixture for protection. “First of all,” she paused, playing with the fresh orange wedge, “how could you tell?” Her question came out tentative, like scar tissue peeled back from a raw wound. “You should know by now you can't keep secrets from me,” he admonished, working to raise her spirits as he knew, from experience, would just take some gentle prodding. “Nothing but the truth for your play gay. So, c’mon, dish—how long we talking? Weeks? A month?” Patty raised her eyes. “Months.” He tipped his head forward and raised his eyebrows. When she didn't elaborate, he splayed his hand between them, gesturing. “And??” She let some air escape her lips. “Well…he says that I…” She sipped her drink, but left the sentence alone. He endured the silence for almost a minute. “You what, for God’s sake? Pass explosive gas?!” Patty’s face twisted into something between horror and amusement. “Nothing that revolting. He says I kick him in my sleep.” Chuck burst out laughing. “I think this is a new peak of passive-aggressive behavior.”

Like An Episode Of Mad Men
I cannot wait for the next chapter. I understand how fans of Dickens could not wait for what was next. I read the first one and was so interested in the friendship. I love how they are such good friends but in totally different places in their lives. Will he find love? Does her husband understand her need or this deep friendship?
Then unexpected events took place in my life.... I was alone for a whole week at the end of July. No husband. No kids. My husband took our three kids away or a week.... Alone for the first time in 11 years for an extended time... All I could think about what was next in this story! I made a Martini. A chocolate one. I used the recipe from the book. Divine. My first sip was as interesting as the words. I love the description of how they look! Real people! Real characters. I love the language the author uses to create characters that are so real I felt like I could be a part of their martini events. Looking forward to everything written by this talented author.

I'm Hooked
This was so much fun. I loved Greg Gerard's memoir, In Jupiter's Shadow, which I read and reviewed a few years ago. This is so different and so fun. Also, the recipe idea is cool. I'd say this particular recipe sounds as dangerous as it does wonderful. I'll be tuning in.

Great Concept
