Very enjoyable reading, could not put the book down. The novel is full of compassion and personality as it describes the lives of friends in turmoil. I found myself laughing, crying, and at times having chills as I read this most memorable novel.
Difficult to put down . . . must read!
A very compelling, well written and must read book for anyone involved in, thinking about being involved in police work. Mr. Wills so very nicely takes you into the minds of everyone involved, including the two men who suffer a devastating blow, their families and the administration of a department. You can watch how the lack I communication and the stigma of being a "tough guy cop" literally destroys more than just the ones directly involved.
This book helps bring to the forefront the very real issues of cumulative stress and PTSD. As a police officer myself as a proponent for bringing these issues out into reality where they belong....I highly recommend this as a must read..
Over the years...we have lost almost as many, if not more some years, police officers to suicide....than line of duty deaths...police are more dangerous to themselves than at the hands of criminals because of the issues brought forward in this book.
Thank you Mr Wills for the very real details and very true signs and symptoms and awareness of this subject in out very "tough world".

John had me from the first page until the last. Great and story about loss, tragedy, trauma, family, emotional pain, personal demons, endurance, and redemption. Character development was very strong and engaging. Highly recommend this heartwarming book.
