Chapter two: “out in the streets”
Casey is fast asleep in her little basket in the kitchen at dawn. She has a smile on her face and is dreaming that it’s Easter and instead of eggs the Easter Bunny has left in the garden hundreds of balls of different colors and Casey is running from one to the other, not knowing which one to pick as they are all so pretty!
A ball hits her on the nose and Casey is confused as this ball is old and all chewed up; what is Easter Bunny’s problem?!
Casey wakes up as Twiggy is about to drop an old tennis ball on her nose again.
Twiggy is standing next to her basket with a big backpack twice her size.
Casey is about to ask Twiggy what she is doing when it all comes back to her: the horse race, the kennel, running away... but did they have to run away so early, and without breakfast?!
Twiggy sighs and explains to Casey that they have to leave before the family wakes up.
“But without breakfast?” whines Casey.
