A young bi-racial woman returns to her hometown, but finds that there is an underlying terrorist faction, and she has now become their target.
As a teenager, Jadey Evans’ family fled their small town to escape the kind of haunting that only a dysfunctional family would recognize. Returning 14 years later, she anticipated some face-to-face combat with old ghosts, but had no idea of the real terror that awaited. Her bi-racial heritage had been a kind of novelty to her young friends more than a decade ago, but now she is alarmed to discover that former neighbors of color had been quietly disappearing. Would she be next? Had the racial discord always been there, but covered with phony smiles and carefully chosen words? Her own discovery of a murder victim close to home begins a race to crush a white supremacist terror plot while saving her own life. Is there anyone in Twin Station she can trust?

Fully loaded with suspense and mystery
Starless Midnight rivals an Alfred Hitchcock movie. This character-driven story heightens the suspense to the point you'll be reading through finder-covered eyes. This book is highly relevant to what is happening in the world today.
Well-deserved 5 stars
I was instantly caught up in this well-written, engaging and timely story. It features a bi-racial protagonist struggling in the face of a dangerous white supremacist group whose members are behind some mysterious disappearances in the community. I've read this author's non-fiction before, so I knew a little of what to expect, but I was over-the-top delighted with how this novel flowed and kept me entertained and also on the edge of my reading couch. I felt the fear and excitement at every turn of the page.
Very entertaining mystery novel with some interesting plot twists
I highly recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys a well-conceived mystery plot with some unexpected twists along the way. The story is especially fitting for our times since it features a bi-racial protagonist struggling in the face of a white supremacist group whose members threaten harm to her and others in her community. The author has a witty and engaging writing style that draws the reader in from the very first pages. I look forward to more offerings from Ms. Garthwaite.
