I open my eyes.
The ceiling's in a haze.
Run my eyes around.
I'm in a white room.
Where am I ?
Hospital?
Heaven?
I'm so weak?
What´s the matter with me?
Maybe it's my appendix?
Hovering above myself, looking down.
Naked on a bench, so awfully thin.
Four humans standing by my side.
White ropes, maybe doctors?
Gliding their hands over and wounds appear.
Where the arms and legs join the body.
The wounds filled with something biological.
Gliding hands over.
The wounds disappear.
I can see their faces.
Pakistani or Indian?
Who are you?
We assist Einar from Einarsstad.
Who?
If you won't be good and well, then you can get help on ...as
And they disappear as I re-join my body.
Excerpt
The story portrays in a dramatic way the heroic struggle of a young man, who has to face the death of two of his
friends and a durable disability after a serious accident.
He is totally paralized, to begin with from neck down, dumb and without memory of his past. His thoughts and
feelings in his long and difficult rehabilitation are portrait and his battle of making it in a society where he isn't competitive any longer. The author's frank description of both his victories and defeats in the
never-ending battle leaves no-one untouched. In spite of everything the author has humourous sight on his struggle.
