“This is a careless act, King of Randor!” she exclaimed.
Ian looked around and a sheepish feeling started to work its way through his being. As his gaze moved over the piles of felled trees, Ian’s embarrassment and frustration at not being able to control the sword’s power was written on his face. Looking back at the little winged fairy, Ian smiled sheepishly and shrugged his shoulders as if to say, “Sorry, but these things happen”.
A storm of emotions erupted from the fairy at this. “Do you not realize the amount of time and nurturing that went into the making of this grove? This is my home, and in a few short, careless seconds you have destroyed what took me centuries to make! You have much to learn, sir, and it is high time your lessons began! You have much to make up for, Ian Firth, and you will not leave this place until you have atoned for your lack of control. Not only did I care for this grove, but many of the trees here lying on the ground I raised from nut and acorn! They were my friends, family and they were just coming into their own! Where is that old fool that calls himself a Druid? I have words to speak to him for bringing such a lout into my home and allowing this to happen. As for you, King of Fools, your atonement starts now. You will find the acorns and nuts from each of these dead trees and you will plant them in the very spot that the old trees were blasted from. You will care for them as I had and you will bring back their beauty. That should keep you out of mischief for a few centuries.” Then, turning to gaze over the grove she said in a forlorn voice and a tear running down her cheek, “My poor, mistreated friends.”
