"Gold Through My Toes"

Somewhere in a dream zone, in that little space just before awakening, a single thought comes to mind. A word maybe as real as if someone had whispered to us, and it makes perfect sense for the split second it takes the mind to focus into consciousness.
It was a dream, I’m sure, though I didn’t remember details. Vague little splashes of color, here and there, a sensation of my bare feet on the sand, a golden powdery glow drifting with the breeze, and I woke up to a simple sentence:
“A premise to the unexpected.”
