This is a book of prose, poetry, memoirs, and photography. The poet has chosen to break the poems down into categories that fit her moods such as "Inspiration, Love, Fun, Memorials, History/Political, these are just some of the categories. Photography is also a passion of the author and she shares a few photographs just for fun. This book includes pictures that were favorites, but in no way exhibits the many pictures that she has taken around her hometown Philadelphia, PA. Memoirs included in this book reveal another side of the author who believes that everyone goes through some things in their life that may resemble other folk’s lives but talking about it or thinking about those situations just hurts too much. This is a small world and we all can relate to many times of happiness, experiments, experiences and tragedies that make up who we are. Victoria wants you to be inspired, have fun, have total recall and just enjoy.

IN THE SPRING OF MY REMEMBRANCE

In the spring of my remembrance,
In the winter of my many thoughts,
There have been snow storms in my
August; with dreams, representing
Confusion in my heart. But God’s love
Is in the heavens and his thoughtfulness
Is in the skies. Therefore, my Fall will
Be no contest, if I keep Jesus in my heart.

FORWARD
When I read a book, I look for thought provoking content. The truth has to affect me. The story has to hold me. The poem has to touch me. I want to devour the contents. I want the meat of the book with or without the gravy! No matter what the book is about, it has to keep my attention to the point of me cheating on my sleep because I absolutely must know what else there is. This drives me to keep reading or soothes me till I drift off to sleep with a smile.
When I read poetry or prose, I demand the gravy too! The words have to have flourish and flow and give the poem whatever it takes to bring my hand to my chin and ponder or rock my soul like a jazz composition.
This poet, author, photographer pours herself into these pages and give us insight into the feelings of Victoria Peurifoy. She shares her growing pains, her loves, her losses, her mistakes and her “victories” (sorry, I couldn’t resist ). Her virtues and triumphs made me want to embrace her. Her moments of sadness brought tears to my eyes too. The short stories about her youth, made me remember some of my own antics and grimace. She taps our youthful memories through poems like No Sunday School, The Dash in the Middle and The Dance; for I too, danced on my daddy’s feet. I laughed when I read her piece entitled, Move because it engendered flashbacks of early parenting and the times my children were delusional enough to state when something “was not fair!” I smile even now when I remember how much power that word had.
A Prayer reminds us that Nature is more than willing to do God’s bidding. The poet points out that sometimes it is good to pray just to have conversation with God. God, Why Did You Gift Me is a question many of us who find ourselves in the arts occasionally ask especially if we are trying to avoid certain
aspects of the secular world. Like Victoria, many of us have dedicated our lives and our talents to God and in so doing, we recognize that there are some compromises we cannot afford to make. Ms. Peurifoy has been astute enough to remind us that if we have been given a talent, we must use it well. “To whom much is given, much is required.” (Luke 12:48 NKJV)
With The Spring of My Remembrance, Victoria, not only took me on a journey through her life; but I found myself having some nostalgic moments that I thought I had forgotten. So as you go beyond this Forward, be fore-warned that you cannot simply read this book of poetry, prose, short stories and photographs; you will eat it up. Bon appetite!
