Miss Elisabeth was grim faced as she climbed the hill from the Mopan on Norrie's farm. Even though her mood was dark she marveled at the way the house blended into the forest. She was only fifty meters away before she saw the outline of the roof set among the trees. “After this rainy season the trees will be that much taller,” she mused. “This is turning out to be an interesting experiment.”
In the three weeks since Patricia had vanished all the stops had been pulled out in an effort to find her. Wally had flown in from Australia with Suzi and they had pledged as much money as was necessary to aid the search. Miss Elisabeth's extended family had taken time away from their jobs and had traveled to Toledo to speak to anyone and everyone who had ever spoken to the British girl.
