Community development is an urgent and desperate need in Africa. For so long many African communities have gone through several decades of pain, poverty and deprivations of all sorts. This situation has turned most Africans to migratory beings.

      In the last few decades, many Asian communities which were at the same level with those in Africa have experienced remarkable progress, but the situation of African communities is going from bad to worse.

      Africans presently make up 80% of

 Western immigrants due to the  deplorable state of most African communities.   

      It is frightening that, in the 21st century when the world has so much advanced in many aspects, one could still find communities in Africa without any quality in human development and social services. No schools, health services, electricity, good drinking water, etc.

      Life in some African communities is not different from life in the very early eras of human existence. Children live and grow old without any education. Some die without ever enjoying the comforts of life.

      This book, on Community Development African approach, is written as the beginning of the fight to enhance community life in Africa.

      It is a product of my research for several years of living and serving in many communities in my country and Nigeria.

      The knowledge in this book is indigenous and it fits into the real life situation of most African communities. May each reader of this book find the passion for community development.

When the world seems large and complex, we need to remember that great world ideals all begin in some home neighborhood.
