from Ladybug Betty:
Ladybug Betty had a story to tell someone. She wanted to tell someone
before she forgot it, because she knew her memory was not very good.
Ladybug Betty had seen a Spider make a very weird web, a web
that looked like a very special and different web. And then Spider made
another, then another until there were lots of special shapes in the
spider web.

She watched as Spider straightened bits of web, or stroked
out lovely curved shapes and even made sure that the webs crossed
at the angles she wanted to make.
Ladybug Betty just knew in her dots that something very
interesting was happening; she just did not know what. She
had to find someone and get them to have a look at what Spider
had made.
She ran everywhere until she came across the three Blue
Beautiful Ones. She found them in the summer grove helping to fix
the wonky wibbles on Mr Little’s house and hopped onto number
two’s Beautiful Blue hand, blurting out the strange things she had
watched Spider do.
Beautiful Blue number two said, “Do not worry Ladybug Betty,
Spider is making an alphabet of shapes and these shapes can be
put together to make words. Spider is doing this so everyone can
have a chance to understand everyone else, even if they don’t live in the
same area.”
So Spider is working hard to make something new, do you want
to help her?”
“No,” said Ladybug Betty, “I cannot spin webs. But maybe I can
learn how to put the new letters together.”
And Ladybug Betty did just that. She learnt how to
use the letters, and how to make words and then she taught
this learning to everyone she met. She did not forget even one of
the new letters!
A busy Ladybug Betty she became.
