This is the true story of an LA accountant who went to Tokyo to teach English. Encouraged by "friends" to work for UBS, he found a position in their Accounting department. Unknowlingly, he was mistaken for a CIA agent wanted by the law. This was due to his identity being switched by this spy using identity theft to imposter him. An Accounting manager told him to report to Japan's Ministry of Finance, the keeping of two sets of books. At first he did nothing, but after being fired from his bank job and blacklisted, he made the call. He then found that on the day of his appointment, by reading the morning newspaper, that slander had become a three year jailable offense in Japan. He had been set up to go to jail.
Contemplating committing a crime or death, Michael considered going to war but instead used his IQ. Reflecting on strategy to stay alive instead of dying like others, Michael exposes what he found out about illegal activities at UBS. At first he got death threats, then job offers. Then came threats to jail him. Not wanting to return to UBS, he fled to Thailand for opportunities and to get away. In Bangkok he encountered more spies, more job offers and old friends from college. Finally, after turning down "a job he can't refuse" he began experiencing psychological warfare which let to a doctor's visit and a return ticket to the USA.
Waking up to a 747 landing at LAX, Michael soon finds himself in his hometown, broke, discredited and with few friends. He then spends the next several years trying to find out what happened. Later he hears that the "Voices" were an aspect of NSA domestic spying and they were tasked to investigate him while he is on ice.
He finds that a rogue spy impostered him after commiting a crime which was the reason for the setup in Japan. Now Michael and the NSA team up to catch the spy who has the FBI thoroughly baffled and mistakenly are attempting to build a case against Michael. Luckily the imposter is also a suspect so when his cover gets blown, he ends up in a padded cell in Hawaii.

Staying strong, he shrugged it off and looked for a new job. But after six months, found out that he was also blacklisted. He tried to sue but was threatened by the Yakuza. Growing desperate, he put on his thinking cap and refused to die by "Constructive Murder" or suicide from misery. He recalled history and the Watergate scandal and realized how to fight them. He exposed what he knew in public. At first got death threats, then finally, job offers of $200,000 per year. Turning these down as another possible setup, the police put Michael in a good job.
Then the Yakuza was tasked to help get him fired. With the threat of doing time, him he feared a possible jail sentence. Discovering the job of his dreams in Bangkok, he fled to Thailand where he got double his last offer. After turning down a $400,000 a year job, the US Embassy sent him back to California.
The major influence in my life is the Bible. Told to report to the U.S. Embassy, I recalled a Bible verse,"Do not allow for misunderstandings" and how I had been mistaken for a spy and lost a $200,000 a year job. And when harassed, I recalled Jude 1:4. "The Grace of God is not a license to sin." When I arrived back in the USA, the State Department, my mom and the NSA suggested that I write this book. I wrote the first draft of my book in a coffee shop and finished it at home on my computer
