Perry Cross never figured he'd ever end up in a place like this. All of his classmates had gone their ways to become successful, while he had barely existed. Until he decided to join the service. His sergeant had said he would never amount to anything, and suggested more times than one that he leave the service. It was a miracle Perry even made it though basic training. He sat clutching his rifle close to him as he hugged the rain soaked ground and the bushes nearby. He could see the other men hiding in the rocks and bushes. He also saw two men get killed. Jim Nogales and Sergeant Habab. Perry felt remorse for Jim, but Habab had been a bastard and he was glad he was dead.
