From 1991-1993 Elizabeth (Agnes Toews Andrews) lived in Israel. This book, a journal travelogue explores the sights, sounds and smells of not only Israel; but Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Cyprus, Jordan, and Gaza.
As Reiki Master, one of the first to live and teach in Israel, Elizabeth's trust and enthusiasm to explore herself, the unkown and her environment fill the pages with her emotional struggles, psychological challenges, visions, miraculous healings and visitations from Jesus, Archangel Michael, Mary, Isis and Abraham. Since the publication of her first book, 'The Incredible Potato,' Elizabeth has been studying humanistic psychology uncovering the true tools for releasing 'garbage.'
With her strong descriptive writing, Elizabeth takes the reader with her as she journeys with the mind, body and spirt revealing stories told her by a Reiki client in the Old City of Jerusalem, the former press secretary to the Shamir government . She relates stories told her by friendly Palestinians, stories of land rape by the Israelis. She witnesses the abuse of privelages of the Palestinians in the Westbank and is present at terrorist infiltrations at the Jordan River.
Elizabeth explains the role of the UNTSO, United Nations Truce Supervisory Organization in the Middle East who her military fighter pilot husband was working for.
"Garbage and Flowers" does push the envelope, but does so with grace and conviction. There are travel photos of Elizabeth thoughout the book.

In all our lives we are faced with contrasts. Agnes Toews Andrews has written her experiences and her refections of them in her new book, "Garbage and Flowers". Agnes, a Reiki Master now lives with her husband at Little Fort, BC, and has touched the lives of many North Thompson residents.
Garbage and Flowers is is at once many things. It is a travelogue of Agnes' two years of life in the Holy Land. Perhaps more importantly it is a travelogue of her personal and inner voyages that occured during the time that she spent in Syria,Gaza,Cyprus, Jordan,and Egypt.
