Isabella St. Clair returns back to the Vieux Carre, through the spirit of Felicity Devereaux, thus a voodoo conjure, Fares de Sacrifice, where she is reunited with an immortal lover from the past, Rene, and where she, Rene and their Sire, Prince Acadian plays the ultimate game of deceit, in the name of vengeance, and to take over, or remain ruler of the underground world of the Vieux Carre, the definitive immortal war. All takes place within the narrow streets of the Vieux Carre, the French Quarter of New Orleans, Louisiana, and within Bayou St. John, within the mid 1800's, from where Isabella St. Clair is reborn into a beautiful immortal vampire, thus, once a brain sucking zombie, punishment by the Elders of the Vieux Carre, the judges of the underground world of the night creatures, for attempting to kill Prince Acadian, her Creator, her Sire, years before, leaving him for dead within the marshy swamps of Bayou St. John.
