Sometime during the flight, Kate fell asleep. She was having the dream again. It was one of those dreams: the kind that feels real, but you know it is a nightmare, and you can't wake up.
The dream was scattered and didn't make sense, but then there was the old wooden door. Blood seeped out from under the frame. Kate felt herself moving towards it even though she dreaded it. She couldn't control her movements.
She heard the wooden floor creak beneath her but could not see it; all she could see in the darkness was the door and the blood. Her hand gripped something, but even in the dream her mind did not want to acknowledge it. Her gaze was focused straight head. She was almost at the door.
