The first reports trickled in to our tiny police department. People complained of a sharp tingling in the back of the head and neck. Those same folks also swore they heard strange sounds coming from the woods surrounding our town. Invariably, when they returned home and tried to participate in the story telling, their minds were completely blank. It was as if something had sucked all the tales from them, leaving a void of wordless mouth movements.
