As my eyes begin to focus, I can see the crimson flow of life resting in pools naturally created by the landscape of corpulent hills. I am keenly aware of the scent of freshly seared flesh sweetening the air around me. My body involuntarily begins to stiffen. Hesitant to move, I am afraid that I might touch the charred and severed bits and pieces of human anatomy lying around the room. There is a sheen to these bodies. They appear to be glittering from a coating of moisture, like the effect of morning dew in the country during the fall. Nicky, 'The Pigeon' Key, is lying right over there. I recognize him despite his decapitation. My legs are stretching. They are coaxing me to stand. It is almost as if I'm being willed to do so by an unseen force. the haze that had enveloped the room is beginning to clear. Here I am alone, in a room full of people, some familiar to me and others, complete strangers and through the grace of God, I am the only one standing. I am the only one with the life-giving gift of breath. " my God save me! Someone please, please help me."
