Twelve years had passed, but the last heartbreaking image of his father, Beverly Hills police chief Martin Peters still haunted Mack Peters. In his mind’s eye Mack pictured his father’s body splayed on the floor of the restaurant patio—his exploded head in a pool of blood with the lifeless form of their innocent waitress collapsed atop him.
Therapy and determination had not helped block the horrible images—a speeding black SUV, the volley of shots and the lifeless body of his father and their waitress.
Waves crashed onto the sandy beach with a vengeance that almost echoed the anger he tried to contain whenever memories broke through the protective wall he managed to construct in his mind.
