Elsie thought the night was turning out splendidly, with light puffs of warm air wafting onto the porch, punctuated by the sound of crickets chirping, and warm inquisitive glances from the dreamiest man she had laid eyes on in a long, long time. She smiled at him, took his hand and led him to the porch railing where they could take in the clear sky, full of stars. “Just look at that,” she said, pointing overhead. “A perfect night sky, just like in a Hollywood movie.”
