The doctor did a check of Julie's vital signs. Her pupils were dilated, her heart rate was rapid, and her breathing was shallow. If this were a normal patient, he would hook them up to an IV immediately. He decided to follow protocol. He had a line strung and ready in minutes. He attempted to insert a starter line into Julie's arm, and was taken aback at what was happening. Each time he inserted the needle, it was pushed right back out and the skin resealed. “Incredible,” he breathed, after several attempts. Even his tries to take a sampling of her blood proved impossible. He was left with only one thought: “What are you?”

Fresh New Idea
Lori takes her new story, Human Blend, in a fresh new direction. She introduces a new character concept to the 'Paranormal' community. Her heroine, Julie/Laney, is a very special and confused young lady. She is in possession of special abilities that she herself does not understand, but some very bad people covet. All she wants is a 'normal life'. This book takes the reader on an emotional roller coaster as Julie/Laney learns to lead a 'normal' life, and learns to 'trust' and 'love' again. It is full of action and suspense. A definite must read.

The thing that makes Julie happiest is helping people feel better...and she's exceptional at her work.
She befriends two locals, Austin and Eli. Austin is a charming young man of 18 years who wants nothing more than to go to college and become a teacher, all the while tethered to his mother's laundromat legacy. Austin becomes quite smitten with a guarded Julie. He knows she's running from something and he wants to protect her. Eli, a surgeon married to his work, observes Julie's special talents at the hospital and wants to help her. Both men are magnetically drawn to Julie. She is equally drawn to them which creates fascinating interactions and leaves the reader anticipating what is to come.
Lori Pescatore gives her characters wonderful depth and personality that make this such an easy story to fall into. The storyline twists and turns creating an exciting, powerful tale that will keep you riveted to your seat from start to finish. A highly recommended read!

One of my favorite reads of 2010
I stumbled upon this book by accident and after reading some of the reviews I immediately placed my order. This book had me on page 1 and I couldn't put it down. The concept of this book is so different from anything I have read in the past and I found it a pleasure to read. The characters are just amazing and I immediately fell in love with each one. I will definately be on the Look Out for the next book in this series. Give this new author a try and you won't be disappointed.
This was an awesome tale. I couldn't put the book down. It had suspense, heart rending scenes and thrills and chills. The author did a fine job writing this story and I WILL be back for more! Lori Pescatore is a fine author and has me as a new fan!
