When we come from the baby manufacturing factory, our brains are like fresh flash drives. From day one, our psyche development takes place in our brains. Initially it tries to pick up skills on physical activities. Along with that process, at a slightly lesser pace the brain develops the mental traits that I like to call the “Ego Process”. A principal characteristic of this brain process is to start with an “Identity” and drop the “d” from it to form the “I entity”.
As mind is a process, we always feel young as 21 at any age. Don’t you feel that way? This is true as long as our healthy brain can process thoughts. Processes are not subject to aging though the physical body is. As a result we feel young in our minds all the time. However, when we grow old, depending on the brain’s chemistry, parts of the brains may not function properly. In such instances the thinking processing could get deteriorate. Ex. Patients with Alzheimer’s disease.
Dr. V. Ramachandran who is another well known neurologist has done similar experiments on the hemispheres of the brain. In one experiment he had a method of getting a person to answer questions using one hemisphere of the brain at a time. He found sometimes the answers they give for the same question from the two hemispheres are completely different, thus indicating that there are wholly different two characters in our brains. In a canny manner he expressed that one part of the brain might end up in heaven and other part in hell as he found a person who answered the question “Do you believe in God?”, “yes” by one side and “no” by the other side.
