When Rozalind (Roz) Wingfield's father disappears while camping in the Ozark Mountains, she hires David Crockett, a famous tracker to find him.  She convinces him to allow her and her fiance, Edward Holt, to accompany him on the search.  Along the way, Edward is hurt and is forced to discontinue the search.  Now that Roz and David are alone, some long hidden feelings begin to emerge.  As the search is broadened to cover several countries, Roz finds herself drawn romantically to David.  She begins to hope that he feels the same way.
