After Christmas
The cold sun is shining
Visitors have gone
Festivities are over
Days will now seem long
Recognising all effort
All hard work done
For us out of love
Good food and fun
Through the long winter
Preparing for snow
Or sleet or ice
No one can know
Memories will linger
Smiles, on recall
All that is left
Away Time takes all
But deep in the recesses
Bright jewels remain
To help through the darkness
Of illness or pain
Times of joy cherished
The dross thrown away
With such treasures I'm ready
To face any day
