A sequel to Pale as the Moon
Bear Song is a sequel to Pale as the Moon. Readers will catch up with the colonists, who history tells us mysteriously disappeared from Fort Raleigh, living with a community of native people deep in the wilderness. They learn survival skills from their hosts, and the two cultures live in harmony, facilitated by Gray Squirrel, who is revered for her wisdom and healing skills. Virginia Dare, the first English child born in America, never knew any other life and fits happily into the village routine, but not without a few escapades that distress her mother, Eleanor Dare. It seems everyone has settled into a harmonious life until Blue Jay returns from a hunting trip with gifts for the whole village. It is those gifts that cause tragedy in the village and the death chants to begin. A quest to find healing herbs leads Gray Squirrel back to Roanoke Island, where a mystical bear comes to her in a dream. But, will the bear’s message lead Gray Squirrel to the medicine she needs in time to save the villagers?
