Learn what not to do in your book venture

I have followed several how to write books.  After following the suggestions down the line they have not held up.  Therefore, I decided to figure out what not to do and share my findings with my fellow writers, especially those who are struggling.

Excerpt

If you bought this book, most probably you have already finished a manuscript and have it ready to be formatted and are eager to send it to Amazon Kindle Publishing or somewhere similar. On the other hand, you may have already written what you were sure was going to be a best-seller, but it bombed bigger than the one in Hiroshima.
OK, I have gone through both circumstances several times, even after reading a pretty good book on how to publish and reap in the dough!!! In the end, the only dough I have come in contact with has been during my feeble attempts to bake bread in my tiny kitchen.
However, I did follow all the steps in a How To Become The Greatest Published Writer In The World book. What went wrong? Well, bear with me and let’s go through the path that lead me nowhere and see what was not in the small print – or invisible print -- after each instruction.

In a very short, humorously written piece of non-fiction by author Alex Canton-Dutari, How Not to Write, Publish and Promote Your Book will ring true to the many people out there who have had big dreams about becoming a famous author, only to find that all of their work has come to naught. The author himself followed all the steps from the book How To Become The Greatest Published Writer In The World, but was not successful in his attempts. Why not? This short guide explores that exact question. Author Alex Canton-Dutari outlines exactly what went wrong for him in an easy to follow format that many will find funny and refreshing, and they may also learn a bit for their own attempts in publishing the Next Great Novel.

I enjoyed How Not to Write, Publish and Promote Your Book. Author Alex Canton-Dutari has done a good job at relating his experiences in his attempts at success in writing. Many of his readers will find his story relatable, especially anyone who has tried to publish something without much success. His guide provides advice based on his own experiences, and many will find his words enlightening and reassuring. I think any reader who has written a book and is struggling with success in the publishing world, or any reader who is contemplating working towards publishing something would be well served in reading this work. Please be cautioned that this is a very short work, less than twenty pages long, and should certainly not be looked at as an exhaustive manual, but for what it is, this is a very good work.

Reviews for "How Not To Write, Publish and Promote your Book"

I appreciate your honesty and willingness to put yourself out there and peddle your, "little book." Enjoyed the video.

I don't understand why so many authors think that they can make money writing books. Most writers make their money through writing on their jobs. That writing may or may not contribute to writing ability as an independent author. Everyone has talent. But some may be deceived by praise they received or other, sometimes self delusions, that they can be a novel writer or make money from their poetry.

For most authors, including the famous ones, it takes years of writing books, self-promotion and name recognition before they make any money. There are always a few lucky ones who make a name for themselves from a single book, but that is rare.

I agree with you that YouTube can be used to get your self out there and noticed. Way back when, around 2000 I placed MyTube on my website where I have all my videos--not promotional. They get very little traffic. Recently, I did a little promo for my friend's movie, and that is on YouTube.
