A half-breed outlaw stole her heart and put his lusty brand on her soul.
She came to American to claim a priceless legacy, but the silver mine that brought Danielle Fleming across the ocean led her to an untamed land where neither her money nor her beauty could buy safety. From the glittering society of St. Louis to Crazy Horse's war-torn Dakota territory, she followed her destiny and the men who were her fate - the half-brother whose dark secret threatened to destroy her, the world-famous composer who found in her the inspiration for his greatest work, the cavalry captain who viewed her as the prize jewel in his crown of ruthless ambition, and the half-breed outlaw who stole her heart and put his lusty brand on her soul.
Excerpt
From a recessed alcove along the far wall a lone figure sat for hours unnoticed by anyone. He was dressed unobtrusively in black chino pants that fit tightly over the long lean legs stretched out in front of him. The muscles beneath his blue shirt flinched involuntarily as he watched the pretty girl dance. He'd seen women dance before, but this one was different. Why had she left her elegant dinner party at the Hotel Pierre to come here among the common folk, planting hopeless desires in the hearts of men who could never hope to have her?
With his head lowered, he looked like any other cowboy, tired and dusty from a long ride from nowhere. But he was not just another cowboy, and if the troopers in the saloon knew who sat in their midst, they would have shot first and asked questions later.
He watched the girl with the long, wild, copper-colored hair leave the saloon. He got up and moved silently through the crowd, keeping his head bent, dark curls falling over his forehead to conceal his face.
Once outside, Alex Coulter lifted his head. Running a hand through his thick, black hair, he headed in the direction of the Hotel Pierre.
