 In the book, “ MOVING FORWARD”  by Chris Kanyane we learn of the integrity, conviction and passion thrusting President Barack Obama toward the accomplishment of withholding the Chief Office of the United States.   Mr. Kanyane moves through his book fluidly and with good precision. An easy read, this book takes the reader on a journey, but not so detailed you fight boredom, through the life of Barack Obama and his push for, control of and re-election to President of the United States of America .

 

This book has many quick chapters depicting different times in Mr. Obama’s life and political campaign.  It begins by discussing Mr. Obama’s Longing. The author immediately identifies Mr. Obama’s drive in chapter one: “His longing thirst and all thirsts are burnings that seek quenching”.   This reminds the reader of Mr. Obama’s passion for the position and to be the first African American president making history for minorities across the country, and indeed the world.

 

In the middle of the book we learn more about Mr. Obama’s speeches and writing capability. Describing Barack as a leader who speaks from his heart. This is of course not new to the citizens of America, as most would not argue his speaking capabilities lack in passion or deliverance. However, Mr. Kanyane describes in such detail the feeling of our President that we ourselves are able to experience as if we are in the room watching Barack, tracking his thoughts and feeling his passion from the heart, for his country.

 

The book ends with the chapter entitled “ Heading Home, The Future is Bright”. Ironically I did feel this way when I was finished! I feel the author does inspire us in his writings of our President. Inspires us that our Commander in Chief has been and is continuing to be the vehicle for change, with passion, belief in his country and help for the common man. The Office of the President, the toughest employment position in the world, held by the right person at the right time. I did learn some of Barack Obama, and a flame grew for my country in reading this short, direct and passionate book about a man for this and future generations.

Moving Forward!

This nonfiction book is an analysis of the vision Barack Obama, the 44th president of the United States, has for America and the world. The author, who is from Kenya, first met Obama when he spoke at the University of Nairobi two years before the 2008 election. The book focuses on how the visits and connection with Kenya have influenced Obama's life, and how America has been moving forward since the time of our first president, George Washington. Even though progress has been made in terms of equality, feeding the hungry, etc., there is still more to do.

Mr. Kanyane points out that Obama's leadership is not limited to his colleagues in Washington or to those with incomes over a million dollars. Instead, as the elected president of the entire United States, Obama has the task of addressing the entire nation regardless of the differences among individuals.

Throughout the book, the author has remained dedicated to his perspective. In his research, he weaves historical examples—from the ancient Greeks, through the Renaissance, and beyond—of how people have overcome immense struggles to become great scholars, artists, and teachers. He includes quotes from Barack Obama as well as several past presidents, entertainers, and great thinkers. This serves to back up the author's statements and presents opportunities for further discussion on the subject. His style of writing, like his book title, moves forward. He objectively presents opinions held by those who support Obama as well as those who criticize him. Mr. Kanyane's vast amount of research, combined with his Kenya perspective, make this an interesting read.
