The Hellandback Kids Jon, Trisha, Brittany and Chris, ranging in age from eleven to fifteen, are taken through a whirlwind of adventures while visiting their eccentric great-grandmother in Scotland. Great-grandmamma resides in an old abandoned hospital with relics lining its hallways. Through their adventures, The Hellandback Kids experience life threatening events, and hair raising encounters with unearthly creatures.
The Hellandback Kids travel through a maze of journeys that bridge the gap between reality and fantasy, and where 'life's lessons' are learned. The kids meet-up with the Bundlebobs, who stand two-feet tall, have dirty green colored fur, big heads with matching ears, and feed by breaking off their toenails, dipping them in their ears, and extracting the prized golden jelly. Professor Mend is a brilliant scientist whom advises the Bundlebob clan. He is short in stature with huge ears, no fur, but has long gray hair and an extra finger on his right hand. Alastair, the kids' long deceased great-grandfather, constantly wanders in and out of their journeys, desperately trying to keep them out of harm's way. Godfrey is a vampire like being and Trisha's new found love interest. Unbeknownst to Trisha, Godfrey is determined to suck the life out of her as he has done to all his victims. Brittany is challenged by a virus hundreds of years old, and has to save her siblings with help from an unlikely source (a very small boy) who is special. With trinkets and gadgets from Alastair and Great-grandmamma the Hellandback kids find their way out of life threatening adventures.
In addition to the Hellandback kids, Bundlebobs, Professor Mend, Alastair and Godfrey, readers are introduced to Mrs. Toddles and Advarika her beloved raccoon, Eanrik, the horribly deformed beast Alastair tries to contain in the hospitals basement, and an array of backstabbers, rats, bats and many other fascinating characters.
The Hellandback kids' personalities, range from the serious and studious type, sometimes wacky and bizzare, to outright obnoxious, transition the reader from the heights of suspense to the whimsical and delightful relationships forged between the kids and creatures that accompany them along their journey.
Readers will join the Hellandback Kids step by step in their adventures, and perhaps, will learn a 'life's lesson' or two along the way. So, yes, be careful what you wish for.
