In book one of "The Trinity", the nation of Aurema is under attack by a foreign invader and this invading army is led by children who can manipulate the very elements with a mere thought. However, the Mystics prophesized that during the darkest time only then shall the three be revealed whether their coming is for good or evil, only time will tell.

As it once was, so shall it be again...

It is a time of turmoil for the people of Mandoria. Rumors of war drifts across the wind, an ancient enemy brings chaos and destruction from across the sea. The Kingdom of Man shall be threatened by a terrible army, an army led by children.

And, yet, this turmoil was predicted by the prophets. They said that the Holy Mystics, who watch over the lands from their mysterious floating towers in the sky, foretold of this coming darkness. They said that only through darkness would the three heroes of legend be forged and brought into the light.

They speak of the Trinity. Three individuals who, at first glance, appear unremarkable and undistinguishable from any other man, woman or child. But together they will change the fate of the island nations and the people who struggle to survive.

'Til the time of the three, the world shall suffer...

Excerpt

A warm autumn breeze blew across the Arduan Hills. Butterflies fluttered over the fields of wild grass that surrounded the majestic city of Polanace. Sweeping over the meadow, a single butterfly with yellow wings found her way into the capital city. The insect flew over the high stony wall that fortified the city from invaders. People littered the city streets of Polanace. Red banners hung over the cobblestone roads and sounds of festive reverie filled the air. Yet, the butterfly remained unaffected by the hustling and bustling of the people below.

The yellow butterfly fluttered into a tavern where a group of bawdy roughnecks celebrated early. She escaped the tavern through an opened window sweeping past a horse and wagon. She slipped through the brown mare’s legs and under the spoke of the wagon. Once out of harms way, the butterfly landed on the shoulder plate of an Aureman soldier. The soldier marched in line with his regiment, heading under the portcullis and onto the courtyard of the majestic Polanace Castle.

Polanace Castle stood like a mountain overlooking the city. Built nearly five hundred years ago, a true testament of its sturdy design. Golic rock imported from the Tonttle Islands made up each block of the castle. Many considered golic an especially durable granite, nearly impervious to the effects of weather and moisture. Thick walls guarded the castle, encircling the entire complex in three layers. The first, and lowest, stood on the ground level. The second, which separated the gatehouse from the courtyard, rose taller than the first. The third and tallest wall guarded the inner fortress. In times of war and invasion, the people of the city would flee into the castle for protection. An enemy army would sacrifice much trying to scale the three walls of Polanace Castle.

Once the soldier entered the courtyard, he grunted as he spotted the butterfly on his shoulder. He quickly reached over and swatted at the insect, who immediately took to the air. Having rested, the yellow butterfly now flew farther upward. She easily soared over the highest wall and sailed through an open window on the second floor of the inner fortress. The butterfly landed on the windowsill in a narrow hallway. Soon, three men garbed in worn armor thundered along the glossy wooden floor. One of the men stopped and looked down at the butterfly. He approached the window and the yellow butterfly fled outside again. The armored man watched the butterfly flutter away and then he looked down upon the city.

The man looked upon Polanace with kind, gentle eyes. The sunshine danced across his soft and unblemished face. A day’s growth of stubble marked him older than a boy and on the verge of becoming a man. His hair was the same shade of dark brown as his eyes. The man stood with regal stature, he looked and acted like a nobleman.

Two other men stood behind the regal man. One man had short blonde hair while the other sported reddish-orange hair and a well-trimmed beard. They laughed at some private joke that only they would find humorous. The regal man smiled at his comrades, then groaned as he saw hordes of people swarming through the castle gates.

“We should have snuck in during the night …” The regal-looking man whispered. One of his comrades overheard him.

“Oh come, my Prince, the people have missed you since you left for the Academy.” The blonde fellow said, placing a hand on the Prince’s shoulder. “Now, you return as a man. Ready to lead your people to a golden era …”

“If my father allows it …” The Prince answered, turning his back to the window.

“Auturis,” The red-haired man added. “You know that your father will be overjoyed to have his son back. He has been swarmed by the Senate and will welcome any assistance you may offer.”

Nearly four years ago, Auturis Daenin left his home in order to study at the Royal Academy in Manalobe. This exodus was considered a tradition among the royal family of Aurema. Here, the heir to the throne would learn the rules of governing and the finer points of military strategy. In other words, the Royal Academy served as a training ground where a Prince learned to become a King.

“Many thanks, Conrad, Daniel…” Auturis said, then he smiled at his two comrades. “But, I know why I am really back …”

“And why might that be?” Daniel inquired. Auturis gave his blonde-haired friend a mischievous look.

“To find a wife, some woman of nobility, so that mother and father may hear the pitter patter of little royal feet in the castle halls.”

“Well, now …” Conrad said, scratching at his beard. “Breeding has always been one of my favorite past times.”
