I write horror stories, but this is my softer side. I think this proves I'm a sensitive, sentimental guy. And, the pictures are pretty.
Selections from the poems and lyrics I wrote primarily during my youth when love and lost love filled my heart and my soul with erotic and bittersweet emotions I will never forget. I have included poignant pictures to capture the essence of the moments in time.

The Velvet Cage
And all her lonely life she mourned
And lay in velvet there
To hear the whisper of the wind
And footfall on the stair . . .
The room was dark with faded love
And breathed in candlelight
And through the dreams of yesterday
She walked in wedding white.
And through the lace she saw the window
That screamed with iron bars,
But still she listened in the darkness
And counted falling stars.
And guarded in a virgin hell
The mirror shows a child
With greying hair and wrinkled brow
And lips that never smile.
And all her lonely life she mourned
And lay in velvet there
To hear the whisper of the wind
And footfall on the stair . . .
Enola
Behind the hill the stagecoach paused
Then left her there alone,
A tiny speck upon the land
A thousand miles from home.
She hurried to the single tree
Where they had pledged to meet.
Two hearts were carved into the bark;
The taste of rain was sweet.
And on the oak she saw the words
That made her come so far,
Words so rare he must have found them
Written on a star.
And silently a snowflake fell
Cold and blown by wind
That whispered like a thousand souls
Who'd known and lost a friend.
She waited there 'til day was dusk
And sunset reigned above.
She listened for the sound of horses
And still believed in love.
And then the flaming crutch was gone
And hopes and dreams grew dim.
The snow was falling harder now
But still no sight of him.
And angel white caressed her hair
And tears welled in her eyes;
Her tiny hands clawed at the drifts
And trembling death's disguise.
And weeks had passed before he came
And found her resting place.
So sad he'd only come in time
To bury fallen lace…
Wrapped in a Rainbow
Wrapped in a rainbow
Where I never dream,
Counting the colors
That I’ve never seen.
Oceans of sand dunes,
Mountains of snow,
Fields of green pastures
Where I‘ll never go.
Black is the color
Of my true love’s hair;
Black as my future
And the crosses I bear.
How can I paint
Her beauty and grace
When I’ve never seen
A smile on her face?
Lost in a landscape
Where stars never shine,
Living the nightmare
Of being born blind.
