A Taste of Enchantment - Mona Arizona
A breeze slapped her nostrils with an odor more pungent than the last. Eyes squeezed nearly closed restricted her vision but not her imagination. “Frogs, wands, and fairy dust! What is wrong with those dwarfs shaking that wretched smelling stuff all over the place?”
Hearing snaps and crunches in the bushes and on the path, she imagined cursed animals sneaking for an attack. It wasn’t her imagination! Bucks and rabbits and skunks and…”Frogs, wands, and fairy dust!” she yelled and began running blindly through the trees and flowering bushes.
Fear coursing through her, she ran—ran straight into the arms of…something. Her fists pounded against the muscled wall once, twice, three times as she wailed.
“Snow! Snow! Stop! Would you beat your own suitor?” His arms encircled her, drawing her into his tall, strong, protective body.
Panting, she looked up. The calmness in his voice, being dwarfed in the security of his embrace, she bent her head back further to look up into princely, dark eyes that gazed at her.
“I-I thought you were some beast cast under a spell. I’m sorry.” Again, the pungent odor wreathed her olfactory nerves. “I-I need to wash this smell off of me,” she stammered.
