Mr Bramble lives in alone in his den in the forest. Made entirely of brambles, he's lived all his life being called monster, and fearful of being made into a human stew. He only ever ventures out of his den at night to borrow books from a library in the town next to the forest.

One fateful night he meets James Andrews, a boy locked in the library after hiding at closing time, and helps him escape through the secret tunnel he's built for easy access into the library. Unfortunately, helping him escape sets off a sequence of events involving all the animals in his forest, the boy's parents and the police.

Can Mr Bramble conquer his fear of humans in time to save the day...?
