This confuses me and I tell Sooty that my humans bathe or shower every day, sometimes twice a day. Sooty looks at me in surprise, “really, how odd. How do they get their water then? “ As you have seen, Melinda takes the water she uses from the well in the garden. I tell Sooty about the shower , bath and taps they have in their bathroom. Sooty looks a little scared, “best not say things like that around these here parts. They will think you are using witchcraft.” “What’s witchcraft?.”
Sooty tells me a scary story about how the village look for witches and how keen they are to prove people are a witch. “What happens when they are caught?” I ask.
Sooty shakes her head, “best you don’t know for now young Sukey. Humans can be cruel at times.”
