JERK by Vina L. Hathaway
Sulking across the den, I paused to shout, "Jerk!"
I heard the back door open. Suddenly, Bob stood across the den, his newspaper in his hand. "Did you say something?" he asked.
"I hurt!" I shouted stamping my foot in tantrum gyrations as any two-year old might have.
"You do?" he questioned, his eyebrow slightly raised.
"Yes, I do!" I shouted. I demonstrated. "My feet hurt! My back hurts! I hurt everywhere!" I shouted, scowling convincingly. My face was twisted in seeming torment, but inside I was smiling.
"That was good acting, wasn't it Lord?" "I hurt" sounds like "jerk", doesn't it?"
