As Mel leaned closer, the putrid essence of the demon's sweat assaulted him. The stench almost made him gag. He tightened his hold. His desire to snap its neck almost overcame him. It took all his will to stay his rage.
Loud gasps came from the creature and its face turned blue.
Mel eased his grip slightly, but pushed the tip of his blade higher. “Where is she?”
The demon coughed. “I…I don't…know.”
The dagger's point broke through the tender flesh under the creature's chin. “I'm warning you, if you don't—”
Laughter shook the demon's body. “You'll what, vampire? You have no leverage. You're going to kill me no matter what.”
“True, but I can make your death less painful. Your choice.”
“Ah, slayer, you're a fool. Where I'm going, no amount of pain will come close to what's waiting for me. Do your worst, but know this, she will find your little whore. And when she does, the human's screams of agony will be heard for miles. And if she catches you too, you'll be bound with your eyes taped open so you can watch the torture—”
The words shoved aside Mel's sanity. Black rage filled every corner of his mind. His arm squeezed as he lifted the demon off the ground. Its legs flailed, its mouth opened, trying to suck in air.
“Just kill the fucker,” Kal yelled. “The maggot sack isn't going to tell you anything.”
Mel lowered the male until its feet just touched the pavement. “Tell me where the fuck she is!”
The demon wheezed as it drew in oxygen. “F…fuck…you.”
With a sharp twist, he snapped its neck. The demon dropped to the ground, twitching, but still breathing.
Kal plunged his dagger into the heart. A black mass seeped out of its open mouth and the body exploded into dust.

Ansolutely fabulous
This book had me mesmerized from the very beginning! I literally could not put this book down. It had all of the attention-grabbing aspects that I relish when I read a vampire/paranormal romance novel. It had the contemporary, modern-day, you-can-actually-picture-this-in-your-mind feel to it.
The whole novel was addictive from the very start espcially with the short history on the relationship between the Vampire Species, the Humans and the Demons which grabs a few truths here and there in reality. The familiar "Family Bond/Warrior Brothers" that typifies many good Vampire tales is deeply imbedded in this novel and is magnificently portrayed in how Mel and his fellow Warrior Brothers interact with each other.
What I found most heart-warming, intriguing and down-right sexy was the romance and the deep-seated love and erotic passion between Mel and Breanna. The fact that "the Big Warrior Vampire" actually has a soft side that was coaxed out by "a mere Human Female" actually puts quite the touch to this novel. I loved the plots, I was literally fighting sleep so I could finish the book and when I did, all I could say was "Wow"!
I do hope that Ms. Dyer writes more novels surrounding these Vampire warriors real soon. This was a INCREDIBLE READ and the length was superb. Love this book!
Not you average vampire story
Where to start?
Well simple...
I couldn't put it down. I didn't want to so when life interrupted, I found myself anxious with withdrawal. Mel and Breeana were absolutely awesome as the hero and heroine and the way Ms. Dyer portrayed the story with both a paranormal and supernatural twist just worked so well. Even with the other characters involved, I felt for all of them but didn't feel overwhelmed that they were there. Mel and Breeana's story was still told.
I recommend this book highly to anyone who loves them some vampires. Even those, like myself, who is very picky when it comes to vamp books? Ms Dyer does NOT disappoint at all! I can't wait to see more from this author.

My Review:
Ahhh the proverbial...COMPLETELY AMAZING, UNIQUE, and MESMERIZING Paranormal Vampire Book!! I am so in love with Love's Prophecy (Book One of The Prophecy Series). This is one of those special books that I keep to reread over and over and over again. Here, let me show you a little of what I mean....
The Good: Once again, it was the characters who drew me in and held me hostage for the entire book. How could I not love Breeana? Sure she has some baggage but when she admitted that she was waiting for the kind of lover you find in Romance novels ~ preferably a vampire, well, is there a better fantasy? Then of course, there is Mel. Mel is the type of hero you immediately fall in love with and want to save ~ you know, my favorite typical hot Alpha Male with Baggage. ;) I loved how protective Mel was of Breeana and how he knew in his Vampire remnant of a heart that he loved her as he had dreamed of her and would go to extreme lengths to keep her safe. They were both so well written that it seemed like we instantly become good friends and that is a rare author who can do that. The secondary characters were also well written and helped to progress the story in pertinent ways. Characters like Kal. (Kal and Mel really are best friend and are always together.) He provided the comic relief and in the end, I was really quite curious about him. I would love to learn more about him in Book 2.
The Bad Extra Good: As for the tempo of the story, this was a total page-turner for me. I was constantly wanting to know my proverbial question - "What Happens Next?" - because you have to know how things will turn out in the end. The whole book is just too good not to.
The Snuggly: The romance between Breeana and Mel feels so real. Of course, you cannot have a good Vamp romance without some sexy biting, but the sex scenes seem almost realistic. Now I totally love the whole getting hot 'n bothered bit just reading the intimate scenes but these seemed almost like more. Like there was real love there between the characters. Of course, it was still plenty steamy, never you fear! Anyone have a fan...or three? Over 18 only please.
The Rest: Brenda created a whole new mythology that made sense and is totally compelling. The climax was suspenseful and it kept me guessing right up to the end. The ending itself was satisfying and made me happy...le sigh... I have been 100% completely sucked into this amazing world, and love it. I cannot wait for the next book!** Love the BDB? Well, this is a Paranormal Lover's dream so in case you are not sure if I think you should read it or not, YOU TOTALLY SHOULD!!
