Saunders collection of the grim and macabre will certainly keep you off balance. Tongue in cheek one moment, tongue ripped out of mouth and stamped on the next. The horror flips from the visceral to the psychological without much in the way of warning, and there is a thread of underlying wry whit throughout. With tales that range from weaponising paranoia to becoming (literally) lost in a dream, you're certain to find something that will leap out at you here.
The motivations of the mentally ill
Some stories are subtle others are downright disturbing, but all of them entertaining. A lot delve into the twisted mind of psychopaths using settings that are relatable to everyday life (Stephen King-esque in that way). Twisted, fun, and very Saunders. If you've got a weak stomach, skip the gut-churner "Another False Dawn".

I couldn't put this book down- truly terrifying and menacing but excellently written. A necessary book to the collection for any avid horror fiction reader.
