Gage Connor needs a break from chasing drug smugglers off the Louisiana coast and heads to Alabama to do some fishing. He lock horns with Cody Ryan the moment he arrives at Loon Lake, and the sensual sparks fly.
The mayor of Loon makes up his own rules for the private town tournament. His knucklehead son plans to cheat to win the event, and his daughter just plans to cheat to win Gage Connor.
To further complicate matters, Gage is unaware Colombians stashed uncut diamonds onhis borrowed bass boat before he left Louisiana, and they want their diamonds back. The Colombians are playing for keeps and will stop at nothing to retrieve their stash -- even kidnapping.

Cody started back to the Jeep for her rods and reels. She kept one eye on the entrance drive, checking for Gage's black truck. Her rods and tackle box were unloaded and the Jeep locked when the anticipated black truck made the turn at the rickety gate. Her stomach fluttered as she grabbed up her fishing accoutrements and strode quickly toward the dock. Better not to be caught standing around like she was waiting for him -- which she was and recalled last night's kiss for the hundredth time.
She had just stepped down into her johnboat when she heard a wail-like drawl.
"Heeey Netteee."
Cody stared, momentarily stunned. A blonde scrambled out of the passenger side of the black truck now parked in front of the registration table. The woman wore a cropped skin-tight red tank and jean capris spray-painted onto her bottom and legs -- or at least the capris looked that way. Cody stood transfixed, unable to break her stare. Were Blondie's breasts that big or had she bought a tank two sizes too small? Mesmerized by the woman clacking around the front of the truck in her high-heeled sandals, Cody took another ten seconds to realize Gage had exited the other side of the truck.
"Gaaaage," Blondie sing-songed and hustled over to his side.
Gage had brought this over-boobed woman with him! Was she his wife? His girlfriend? That jerk had kissed Cody last night -- the two-timing rat!

4 Stars... Both Special Ops Coast Guard Captain Gage Connor and accountant Cody Ryan are looking for a vacation when they enter the Annual Loon Fishing Tournament. Gage needs a break from chasing drug smugglers off the Louisiana coast, and Cody is looking to somehow reconnect to her recently deceased father who frequented the fishing tournament. Neither expects trouble in the sleepy town, but the feisty redhead discovers she’s the first female to ever enter the tournament, and the Captain finds out the smugglers he left behind are coming after him and the uncut diamonds hidden on
his boat.
Mix in a cast of zany small town characters including an elderly doctor, some fun-loving ladies, a mayor who makes up his own rules, his lunkhead son and flirtatious daughter, not to mention an old Cajun friend, and romance isn’t far behind. McCarty has written a wonderful book. The characters grow, the background holds solid depth, and unexpected twists add to the plot while not being completely unbelievable. The growth of the mayor’s son is actually really well done, and an enjoyable side plot. The town of Loon was written so well the reader will wish they could drop in for a visit and meet some of the people there... a fantastic light read!
