The Children of Aurora (God save the Children)
The sky was darkened by nuclear clouds of dust only fires from the mass destruction and devastation could be seen.
With explosions going on everywhere the screams of people, men, women and children could be heard throughout the city.
Structures of all kinds were collapsing, crumbling all about and the air due to the heat from the radiation was impossible to breath as the nuclear snow fell and made everyone look like one race of people as they scurried to find shelter.
Off in the distant there were what appeared to be giant flying insects soaring through the air with what looked like people riding them in the midst of then darkened sky, the nuclear fallout, the immense fires, the structural destructions of the city’s edifices, hydrants gushing water from cars crashing into them and the people fleeing running about in extreme panic.
I entered Trinity church or what was left of it, fore there was no need for me to open the church doors to enter, because the walls of the gothic holy edifice was blow away by the nuclear after shock and revealed its contents.
Walking inside I see the stairs that led up stairs to the priest chambers and along the stone stair well was the few remaining stained class windows that were not blown out and under the stained windows stood children lined up with their backs up against the stone wall that ran up the stoned stair case.
Faces dirty from the nuclear snow and soot from the structures that were burning throughout the devastated metropolis the children stood there side by side along the wall of the gothic stair well as if waiting for me to come.
I look at all of their beautiful faces covered in soot, their tattered clothes and I tell them to follow me.
As we exited what was left of the house of God where sermons were once read, prayers made and some gone unanswered, where those who were known as holy men and women called their home, their sanctuary from all that was evil an gigantic flying insect lands in front of me.
Unshaken, quite calm I then command my armor to appear and as I stand there poised with legs at shoulder distance arms stretched out a short distance alongside me an exoskeleton forms about my once vulnerable human body, an exoskeleton that would protect me from all the weapons of mankind and some weapons of God.
Then mounting the breast I then command the children to climb on board and as they did so they too commanded they bodies to reveal their armor.
Flying off into the sky on the giant flying insect, a sky that was darkened by the greed and self indulgences of mankind and those too weak to oppose it me and the children head toward the direction of where we will find more like us and where there is more than just mindless hope, but where there so much more . . .
