In this tale, Aurora, the main character faces many dangerous challenges and does her best to protect other psychics who she knows that are facing the end of their abilities in an internment camp due to fear of their powers in governments around the world. The psychics are on the run, we see her training growing up, stories of old that she has learned such as the history of psychics, and is taken under the wing of older ones still living as she trains for future crises in the world. Aurora also has a kind of underworld she visits called the Night World with various creatures that she is attached to and almost never wants to leave. Other side stories include a trip to her ancestor who is still living in a remarkable alternate dimension, a brush with the Egyptian gods, and aliens. This was very fun and complicated to write and I hope the mystery and multiple plots, which build to a crescendo that may punch the reader in the gut and see what's really going on with the US government and their abductions of psychics. I sincerly hope that you, the reader, will enjoy the book thoroughly and come on an adventurous discovery with me, code breaking the mystery. Excerpt Pouring rain spattered the windshield. Odin Roark: Rewarding mix of fantasy and reality
Set in the time period of 2006 through 2008, the book's title, "A World Within," doesn't really begin to describe how this dual plot line of reality and alternate universes interact with one another. Two characters, one, a psychiatrist with a singularly held belief in a young woman, and Aurora, whose honesty and integrity proves unquestionable as the story evolves, become caught in an Orwellian threat to neutralize a large community of clairvoyant minds attempting to ward off a government plot that would exterminate millions. Aurora engages in a daunting pursuit of both survival and the prevention of cultural genocide as the story's unique dual-world plot converges and diverges, overlaps, crisscrosses, loops around and doubles back, intersecting one another, and resulting in a race against the clock that seems doomed.

Mixing fantasy and reality genres succeeds by creating characters whose vulnerability allow the reader to identify without asking (as happens in many fantasy exclusive stories) to make a leap of faith that might prove unrewarding. "A World Within" and its careful interplay between the "now" and its "alternate universes" working in tandem to prevent a government-orchestrated demise is challenging and gratifying. Ms. Wilkin creates an exciting reading experience embellished with aplomb and panache.

Ray Melnick: magical, stunning and visual
The World Within by Danae Wilkin was magical, stunning and visual. Danae makes you feel for the protagonist, Aurora, through so many descriptive thoughts. I enjoyed the way that the story interweaved fantasy with reality, often touching on real events, but offering a different view of surrounding and parallel events. The story leads you into countless areas and adventures with fine detail, making it an exciting read. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys deep thought with fantasy. I know you will enjoy this one.

Mist: An exciting read!
This is a fantastic story. I've read it twice, and loved it both times. I read alot of fantasy genre : Jordan, Sanderson, Twelve Hawks, and many, many more. Along with Wilkin, Twelve Hawks also mixes fantasy and reality. With both of them, there are times it is hard to tell where fantasy stops and reality takes over. This makes it so interesting to read, as we have the technology to do many of these things, and maybe they are really happening. The psychics are great fun, as is the underworld. The writer is a genius and able to bring all the threads of her story to a believable close. Read it, you will be spellbound and amazed as only Wilkin can do.
