Lei Guthrie and her best friend, Iris, have a tradition. Every Friday night after work they play a game, preferably vintage, the weirder the better. So when Lei finds a romance novel trivia game rumored to be cursed, she couldn’t be happier. Until she and Iris become trapped in the game. The rules are simple. Make it through three romance novel scenes gone horribly wrong and retrieve a silver key from each. Oh yeah, and stay alive.

Game over...
The crypt keeper’s eyes were cold as he stared down at her, but he seemed to be more in control than he had been only moments ago. “Help you?”
“Yes…?” she trailed off, confusion and dread filling her at his look, his tone.
“The men on this ship can’t see me. But they can all see you. And when I snap my fingers, they’re all going to start moving again—and blame you for their laird’s watery demise.” He smirked. “Good luck finding the doorway and making it off this ship alive.”
Lei’s eyes rounded in horror, alternating between the men frozen in place and the crypt keeper’s mocking expression. “Or, you could always—”
“Go to hell,” she snarled, pulling the key out of her bodice and slamming it down on his palm. “I’ll make it off this ship. Alive,” she added. Her temper was beginning to boil over, even while she told herself to proceed with caution where this man was concerned.
Something dangerous flashed in his eyes, and his fist tightened around the key before he took a step toward her. “You want me to help you?” he asked silkily.
She stared at him in silence for a moment, then grudgingly nodded once.
“Okay,” he said, and his lips curved into a smile—right before he picked her up and tossed her over the side of the ship.
