Useless to try to explain that his friends and family were neither posh nor wealthy. It was nothing to do with that. She just wasn’t right and he didn’t want the embarrassment of introducing her to everyone and then later having to explain that it hadn’t worked out. That night for the first time he dreamt of a woman with dark blonde hair. His mother was sympathetic but pragmatic. “For goodness’ sake, Richard. You’re a young man. You’ve got all the time in the world. I don’t mind waiting a few more years for grandchildren.” She gave him a meaningful look. “You are being careful to make sure there are no unwanted grandchildren, aren’t you?” “Mother! I don’t need to worry about that. All the girls are on the pill these days.” “I’m sure they are,” she said dryly, “but it wouldn’t be the first time a girl had been careless in order to trap a wealthy man.” He felt a small trickle of disquiet. How many times had he taken that risk? Could Jacqueline even now be incubating his child? He shook his head. Surely not. Jacqueline was a nice girl with principles. But he vowed never again to be so careless. That night he dreamt of the woman with dark blonde hair again. He was leaning over her sleeping face, marvelling at the perfection of her skin, the line of her eyebrows, the curve of her lips. Her eyes flew open. They were bright, electric blue. She smiled up at him. “Ricky,” she said and reached up to stroke his face. He dreamt of her the next night and the night after that. It didn’t feel like a dream at all. In fact it began to feel more real than his waking life. Every night the dream took up from where it left off the night before. He had heard of recurring dreams, but never serial dreams. It was as if he stepped out of his familiar, mundane life and stepped into another life, just as real, whenever he went to sleep. He started going to bed earlier so as to spend more time with her.

Sweet love story with lots of plot packed into a very quick read.
A sweet love story that makes for a quick fun read. I would recommend it to anyone who likes a good happily ever after tale of contemporary romance. There are bonus touches of humor, sci-fi, mystery, and suspense all packed into very few pages.

Pros:
I was very pleasantly surprised by this book and it felt very complete which isn’t something you can always find in short stories. It’s hard to review this one without possibly spoiling something, so I’ll try to keep it simple. It’s a great love story with a unique plot and a whole lot of story! It’s a very interesting story that shows you both perspectives and has a healthy dose of dramatic irony. I loved seeing both people’s point of view during the date scene. It was funny and realistic what they were both thinking and feeling, and saying and not saying. The science fiction elements of it played out well creating just enough mystery and suspense along the way. The characters were very sincere and likable especially for being a millionaire and a model. I rooted for them the whole time and felt the tension of their journey. I found it refreshing that both of the main characters came from functional families with very supportive parents. Overall it’s a really sweet, feel-good story. Well written and edited. The story is fast paced and concise spanning an impressive amount of time within a small book.

Delightful with a twist.

Jenny Twist lives up to her name. She writes stories with delightful twists. Her stories are always unique. Once I started reading, I couldn't put Flipside down. I loved Chrissie and Ricky, and I couldn't wait to find out how their story played out. Very well done. Congratulations, Miss Twist.



Sweet little something-something

In Doppelgänger, we met Richard and Chrissie, lived their wonderful love story from her point of view, as she lived and breathed it in that other world.
Many of us waited for a sequel, because though the ending was satisfying, we wanted more.
Jenny Twist didn’t disappoint us; not only did she write the sequel and showed us Richard’s point of view, but she carried the theme of sweet, unconditional love and devotion into the second book and gave us one bang of a satisfying ending while she was at it.
Flipside can be read on its own, though reading Doppelgänger has its own dose of that sweet little something-something we all crave for.
I can’t recommend Flipside (and Doppelgänger) enough. If you’ve never read anything else by this author, Flipside will make a great author intro.
Read it, you won’t cry too much, and it’ll leave you with an euphoric feeling at the end.
