The battle between good and evil has been a given since the beginning of the fall. But in the story of the lives of the Kabe family men, this inherent need to deny evil its victory becomes an all consuming passion. It makes you think: What if the Devil actually could dance? and what if he chose you to dance with? Well, the Kabe men not only saw evil in their life's careers, but in the face of the reality of the Devil, their quest to fight for good over evil took on a whole new element that made it personal. As I read the stories of these purpose driven lives, I couldn't help but take on the emotional role of a family member silently giving hoping that the bad guys fall and everyone lives happily ever after. But this is not a fairytale; this is a tale of the reality of evil and the reality of facing evil in real life. As I read I felt the laughter and shared the joy of these families' lives, but feelings were also felt deep with anxious fear and sorrow of pain and loss. After reading this book I have a new appreciation for the battle we call life and the precious power of life we call love.

There is a story within this story, it is not a typical, 'good vs. evil'. It has a good pace to it. It doesn't drag on with flowery description but you don't miss anything either. The characters are strong & realistic, carrying on the family beliefs & traits, one of which is a sense of humor, while staying true to the era. You grow with the story.
Often, the things we fear the most are the things we cannot see. The Evil spoken of in this story is illusive at times, but does appear. It's then you will see that he isn't a fantasy figure that your subconscious can just brush off, but a very real character that comes from an infinitely dark place. Like being at the front of the roller coaster, you will meet him 'in the first person'.
Great New Read
I just finished this book and it was good. The story and plot were well done and the main characters (the Kabe boys) were well developed. I truly enjoyed the story and it pulled me in quickly. The ending was poetic and sealed the deal for me to want to read book 2. Watch for this guy, Bryce A Baker he will likely become one of the greats.
