Mervyn dashed back in to the living room, where the three ladies were sitting, mouths open in amazement at what they were listening to! Brittany taken in by the local Cops! He grabbed his coat and the car keys and with a quick apology to Mary and Brigid, a peck on the cheek to Stephanie.
‘No, wait Merv, I will come with you! I’m sure Brigid and Mary understand?’
She looked enquiringly at the two women.
‘Of course, of course, you go on der. We was jus leavin anyway’.
They all dashed out of the house, Mervyn told the Cops that he and Stephanie would follow them, he had a quick glance in to the back of the cruiser and saw Brittany sitting sullenly, looking a bit the worse for wear. As Mary and Brigid drove away Mervyn said,
‘Y’know Steph, would you mind if I go and do this myself? I want to have a chat with Brittany and I think it would be better if it was just the two of us?’
Stephanie sighed a big sigh of relief, ‘No of course Darling. I’ll see you when you get back’.
Mary and Brigid waved goodbye and drove off. When they got in to their car to leave, Mary and Brigid, were stunned. Really worried, who did these people think they were! They seemed to have completely taken over Doris’s house and planned to take over Doris herself! Now they were involved with the law! There must be a way that they could get rid of them or at least prove to Doris that her guests were people that she would be better without. Mary said,
‘Oi tink it’s toime to have a wee word in d’ ear of our ole pal Murphy? What d’yu tink Brigid?’
Brigid agreed.
‘Murphy’ was a chap they knew who performed ‘tasks,’ that were not one hundred percent legal and above board. Murphy had been known to ‘frighten’ people who were causing a nuisance, some even totally disappeared!
